Antique Art Nouveau Bourgeois-Aine French Artist Box
This is a lovely Bourgeouis-Aine water colour artist's paint box. It is a 19th century French rosewood box used to carry the artists water colour supplies when painting on-site or traveling for commissions.
The box is had rosewood veneers to the sides with an inlaid floral design of irises surrounded by cross-banding on the lid.
The interior also wood, with a section for the water colour blocks, two glass bowls for water, of which one had a piece break off and be glued back into place. There are 3 glass containers with glass lids with block paint in them as well. The tray pulls out to reveal a void where 3 colours of conte crayon are stored.
The interior of the lid has a painting of a countryside sat within a paper frame with the Beorgeois-Aine embossed in gold around the frame along with the word "made in France".The bottom of the box is stamped: 'No. 148'
This is a lovely artist's box that has been well preserved and would fit well in any home or collection.
