Antique 1917 Zenith pocket watch and chain
Antique 1917 Zenith pocket watch and chain.
The watch has stem-winding movement with a patent cam disc regulator (1903 patent) which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Zenith name and the serial number 2,142,012 dates it back to 1917.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has an inscription to mark the Grand Prix won at Paris in 1900. There is some scratching where this inner cover has been opened in the past.
The watch measures 43mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so smaller than a standard 50mm standard pocket watch, but bigger than a ladies fob watch.. The case is white metal and it has an Art Nouveau inspired design to the hinged case back, along with a vacant shield. The case is in lovely condition.
The acrylic lens is in good condition.
The signed dial has its original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an inner 24 hour dial in red. There are a couple of short hairlines, one over number 10 and the other over number 5.
The watch comes with a single albert, slightly more of a pale golden hue than the watch, 23cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
