Fantastic late 19th.c. black lacquered three plate over mantle mirror c.1890 with delightful hand painted panels of birds. The use of black ‘Japanning’ and pained panels the reflect the taste for the exotic popular with the fashionable Aesthetic Movement of the day. Above the birds are shelves for standing items for display against the mirrors. Excellent condition with original mirror plates.
