Lovely oak medullary rays are prominent in the oak. The chair has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain avocado green leather. The leather is finished with brass studwork to the perimeter (this studwork is also repeated on the backrest). The leather-padded seat and backrest is extremely comfortable to sit on. The chair features a rectangular carved backrest, incorporating a breakfront moulded top rail, with linen fold carvings below, flanked by floral cartouches and carved blue bell drops down each side. Connecting leather arms, which are supported by tapered fluted supports, secure the backrest to the seat. The underside of the seat has been webbed in the traditional manner.
The chair stands on protruding splayed legs and terminates on good quality brass castors. The chair rotates 360 degrees it is height adjustable and also features a reclining mechanism (the tension can be adjusted).
This chair features a rich mid-brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Provenance – Adam Style
The Adam style (or Adamesque and "Style of the Brothers Adam") is an 18th-century neoclassical style of interior design and architecture, as practised by three Scottish brothers, of whom Robert Adam (1728–1792) and James Adam (1732–1794) were the most widely known.
The Adam brothers were the first to advocate an integrated style for architecture and interiors with walls, ceilings, fireplaces, antique furniture, fixtures, fittings and carpets all being designed by the Adams as a single uniform scheme. Commonly and mistakenly known as "Adams Style," the proper term for this style of architecture and antique furniture is the "Style of the Adam Brothers."
The Adam style found its niche from the late 1760s in upper class and middle-class residences in 18th-century England, Scotland, Russia (where it was introduced by Scottish architect Charles Cameron), and post-Revolutionary War United States (where it became known as Federal style and took on a variation of its own). The style was superseded from around 1795 onwards by the Regency style and the French Empire style. (Source: Wikipedia).
Condition Report:
The chair and mechanism are in original working condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame has been cleaned and polished in our workshop. The chair has been newly upholstered in top quality full grain avocado green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter, and webbing to the underside. The revolving mechanism is in good working order, having been cleaned and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair stands its original legs (with no breaks) and incorporates good quality brass castors. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and is ready to use.
