A Summer Swim by this well respected Austrian artist is a visually sumptuous painting. The execution is almost pre-Raphaelite and is a beautiful study of a young woman entering a woodland bathing pool. Retaining the original wood and gilt frame with maidens along the border adds an extra dimension to this piece.

ARTIST INFORMATION
An early twentieth century Austrian painter, lithographer, etcher and illustrator, Franz Windhager studied art at the Vienna Academy under Griepenkerl. He began exhibiting his art in Vienna in 1908 and continued to be a regular exhibitor in many major Austrian and German cities until 1940. Today the art of Franz Windhager is held in many public collections, including the Austrian Gallery and the Municipal Gallery, Vienna.
