A pair of good size late 18th century rare cock fighting Stourbridge wine glasses. The engravings date to 1851 in the manner of the bohemian maker Friedrich Egerman who along with 100 bohemian engravers exhibited at the great exerbition.
Hunting was at its peak, and was the sign of an established family. Midlands cockfighting was the rage, with the design of the famous cockfighting chairs and engraved glasses to match. This pair show the set-to and the fight.
Generous ogee bowl on long stem on broad foot and snapped pontil. In very good condition and free from chips and cracks. Some wear to the base in line with uses.
