A pretty pair of late 17th-century dining chairs in very sound and usable condition. They seem to me to be interesting and unusual in their construction in that they have possibly been made by master and apprentice. During the up-close and personal stage of enhancing the colour and wax finish, as a restorer one is very close to the maker, especially with something handmade. I am sure the same man made the back legs and the turned front legs, but being used to making by hand and replacing broken parts, particularly on chairs, I felt a difference in skill levels between them. The chairs absolutely glow with a wonderful colour and are ready to stand and be admired or go straight into everyday use.
