A late 18th century portrait of a lady in the manner of Nathaniel Dance-Holland 1735 - 1811. The portrait is of excellent quality and shows the sitter slightly side on with her head turn to her right, her hair is styled in the fashion of the time. She is dressed in a fine red dress with detailed folds. In the background, a large red patterned curtain tied back to one side revealing an english country landscape in the distance.

The painting hasn't been out of its frame and appears to be on its original canvas with some minor patching evident to the rear. There is an old label on the back for a picture framer in Lancaster?

This is a superb painting and is in very good condition with some minor losses to the frame,and a small mark on her neck line. The painting would benifit from a clean or left as it is.
