A fine early 19th century west country Windsor chair of large proportions with a good broad elm seat, similar examples of this chair attributed to Cullompton, Devon - can be found in The English regional chair book by Bernard D.Cotton, Figures SW23-SW25 - SW27 page 270.
The upper section of the chair is constructed from elm and ash , with the lower section having finely turned fruit wood legs. To the back of the elm seat there is a makers stamp L.W .
The chair has fabulous colour and patination and is in excellent condition.
