6 x Art Deco Silver Nail Top Coffee Spoons, 1935
Here we have a good quality set of six Art Deco Sterling Silver Nail Top Coffee Spoons in their original case. Nail top spoons have a small oblong finial and are a very old medieval design that was revived and became popular in the Art Deco era between the wars.
The coffee spoons are made in Sheffield by Cooper Brothers & Sons and date to 1935. Cooper Brothers and Sons was founded in 1866 by Thomas and John Cooper and remained in business until the early 1980s. They are particularly known for their good quality flatware and cutlery.
Condition of the spoons is very good with no dings, dents or damage and only the most minimal surface wear, that has to be expected after over 85 years of service. The box is in a \"mock croc\" finish and is quite scuffed on the outside but has done its job and kept the spoons in fine condition. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The coffee spoons are each 9.7cm / 3.8ins long and the set of 6 (unboxed) weighs in at a respectable 42.3g / 1.49oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the bowls, are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter \"s\" for 1935 and the CB & S makers\' mark for Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
