3x 1930s Royal Order of the Buffaloes Medals
These three RAOB medals all date from the 1930s and are engraved to the same person from the same lodge - John Hawes of Goodwill Lodge. The medals are all retained within their original lined cases and retain their original ribbons and pins. The medals were all made by L. Simpson & Co. of London. In date order the medals comprise as follows:
- Silver gilt and enamel medal (medal only, not ribbon, weighs approx. 27g), hallmarked for London 1931, engraved 1933. Reads 'Justice, Truth & Philanthropy' around the middle.
- 9ct. gold and enamel Order of Merit & Honour of Knighthood medal (medal only, not ribbon, weighs approx. 17g), hallmarked for London 1935, engraved 1935. The buffalo has small red jewels, possibly rubies, in his eyes. The yellow metal decoration on the ribbon is not hallmarked, and the badge in the middle of the ribbon is engraved with the recipient's name.
- Silver gilt and enamel medal (medal only, not ribbon, weighs approx. 34g), hallmarked for London 1936, engraved 1938. Delegate medal with date bar for 1936-37 on the ribbon.
Condition: Overall in very good condition with some wear consistent with age. There is some tarnishing to the silver gilt medals and some light wear and discolouration to the ribbons. The cases have some scuffing and wear as might be expected, which is heavier to the last medal.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
'Justice Truth & Philanthropy' Medal - 5.5cm long (not including ribbon)
9ct Gold Order of Merit Medal - 5.2cm long (not including ribbon)
Delegate Medal - 6cm long (not including ribbon). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
