2 x Art Deco Glass Fan Vases, Davidson, c.1930s
Here we have a very stylish pair of Art Deco Green Glass Vases with their original flower frogs. The vases are fan shaped with scalloped bases and top rims, whilst the front and back are ribbed and the sides are textured.
The vases were made in Gateshead by George Davidson & Co and date to the late 1930s. They are pattern number 296 in the Davidson catalogue. George Davidson founded his firm in 1867 and was succeeded by his son Thomas in 1891. They were adept at moving with current trends and went from producing high Victorian styles to embracing Art Deco in the 1920s and Modernism after the Second World War. They remained in business until they were taken over by Abrahams in 1966.
Condition is extremely good, with no chips or cracks, no clouding to the glass and only the most minimal superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each vase is 13.5cm / 5.3ins high and 15.3cm / 6ins wide and the pair together weigh 1.12kg / 39.6oz.
Both vases are stamped on the undersides of the bases with G. BRIT for made in Great Britain and the registered design number 831080, which shows the design dates to 1938.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
