2 x Antique Carolean Style Needlepoint Armchairs
This pair of antique open armchairs have the original needlepoint fabric which is still in excellent condition & very colourful too. We just brought these over from Sweden, so presume they are Swedish, although there are brass engraved plaques on both chairs with some writing on. I can’t work out if that is in Swedish or not. I think they may have been presented to someone.
These armchairs are a generous size with highish backs & are constructed very well. I would date them to around the 1910-20’s period, but that plaque date is throwing me a bit.
The frames are solid walnut with plenty of fine carvings especially around the bottom half of these chairs. They have French cabriole legs which are joined by well shaped cross stretchers. The needlepoint fabric is hand tack al over onto the frames.

Depth – 27 inches, 68 cm
Height – 40 inches, 102 cm
