19th Century Walnut Bobbin Turned Rocking Chair
A very beautiful rocking chair made in solid walnut and beech.
Made by hand and dating from c. 1840, this chair is probably American made and has a well shaped top rail and superb bobbin turned spindles, arm supports and legs on original rockers. The well shaped arms and curved cupped seat. We have had the seat professionally re-caned and this will last many decades.
This is a high quality chair, heavy and very solid, with a lovely warm colour. It is comfortable and rocks smoothly.
A really fine example in excellent original condition and without worm or repairs. There are minor dings and some old pin marks around the seat edge.
Dimensions are:
23 inches wide, 34 inches deep and 41 inches high.
Floor to seat is 18 inches.
For metric please multiply by 2.5 I describe and photograph my pieces accurately and with the aim that on arrival each will exceed expectations.
