19th Century Rocking Lambing Chair
A characterful rustic 19th century lambing chair, with its original black paint, this is on a shaped rocking base and has the traditional winged high back and storage area.
- Recessed chair base with a lip at the front, ready to take a comfortable cushion.
- Winged back and shaped arms.
- Useful storage drawer in base with ring pull handle.
- Panelled back
- Shaped crest and apron.
A lambing chair is traditionally from the Lancashire and Yorkshire dales, in a region where sheep farming is prevalent. This will make a great addition to a country kitchen, with a generous, comfortable seat ready for a padded cushion, or it will look lovely by a cottage fireside.
In good original condition with wear consistent with age and use. Some of the original paint is distressed. The end of the left arm is not symmetrical with the right, a piece apparently missing from the side, but this is likely to have been early damage.
