Handsome 19th Century panelled court cupboard / cottage livery cupboard made in solid oak. The double door cupboard has geometric design panelled doors and sit above a single drawer with attractive escutcheon or handles unfortunately not original. Raised on beautifully turned legs and feet with a solid oak under tier. In excellent stable condition with only minor marks etc in line with age and use. This charming cupboard has amazing graining and is a wonderful rich colour, a perfect addition to any home.

Antique Court Cupboards were first seen in the early 16th Century in Tudor homes and great halls.

It got its name due to the fact, they are quite short pieces of antique furniture and the word ‘court’ is the Norman word for short and it also being a cupboard.
