19th Century Low Orkney Chair 19th century Arts Crafts chair Cottage chair %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
An attractive small size Orkney chair, this oak piece has the signature woven winged back and rush seat. The charming traditional design comes from the islands to the north of Scotland, where they kept the drafts away from the user and had seats low enough to keep away from the smoke generated by open peat fires.

- Oak chair with rush back.
- Removable woven seat.
- Arts & Crafts style to the frame sides.
- Tapering legs.

In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. The rush in the chair is loose in a couple of places, but this is not a serious issue and it is a sturdy seat.
