A spectacular 19th Century japanned games table with frieze drawer and side flaps painted with exotic birds and blossoms in chinoiserie style, surrounded by a border of fine mother of pearl inlay and gilt leaves. The games board is decorated with mother of pearl inlay, each square being an individual design. The top is bordered by finely painted gilt leaves. The elegantly curved legs and scroll feet are decorated with gilt leaves, weeping trees and blossoms. The table retains the original tiny brass casters. The chequered inlaid games board is in very good condition, there is evidence of historic repairs to the legs and damage to one of the scroll feet, these are shown in the photographs. This very distinctive and unusual country house games table incorporates all the best design elements of the Victorian era and was obviously made to a very high specification. An outstanding antique to enhance any interior.
