19th C Italian Baroque Putti Statue Italian Baroque style %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A 19th century impressive large scale Italian Baroque style putti statue, depicts a winged cherub, with branch, different smaller scallop shells and holding one large carved scallop shell in exceptional detail, lovely patina and hand carved into solid pine wood. The putti statue dates from the 1860s and is of Baroque style, showcasing the drama, movement and animation of sculptures and architecture during that time. The nude winged infant, known as putti or cherub, supports a large carved pine scallop shell (with hinged top revealing small storage) as if making an offering, standing on a shaped base, decorated with more shells. This beautifully ornate, Baroque putti statue is an impressive statue for an interior inspired by Baroque and Renaissance styles, showcasing the remarkable talent of the 19th century woodcarver.
