This 19th century engraved brass casket brings a taste of the East to a home. This lovely piece is made of brass, engraved on all sides with floral designs. On the interior is a lift out tray to keep pens and the interior well where ink would have been kept. One can almost see it sitting glittering on the dark wooded desk of someone in India. The box has seen many travels and has some resulting wear. There is one dent on the lid which has been shown in the second to last photo. But considering its age and how far it has travelled, the casket is in good shape.

This is a lovely piece for a library or office.
