Rare Georgian Enamel Double Scent Bottle Casket.
A stunning and rare Georgian Enamel Casket opening to reveal two lovely little Cut Glass Scent Bottles which fit inside a Gilt Tray. The Bottles are perfect and Cut on all four sides They each have a Cork stopper which I suspect originally would have been Glass. The Box is Serpentine shaped and has Gilt Mounts around the Hinged Lid.The ground colour is an unusual Powder Blue and has allover white raised images of Insects and Flowers, even on the Base. Each side and the top has a white Enamel and scrolled Cartouche which is decorated with sprays of Flowers reminiscent of Meissen. The inside Lid is also white enamel decorated with sprays of Flowers, again reminiscent of Meissen.I believe this is probably a Birmingham Enamel. Dimensions are:- 10.2cms x 6.3cms x 5.5cms.Date c.1760-70. Conditions excellent with no losses or restorations.
