1953 9ct Gold Helvetia Wristwatch
For sale we have a very attractive and almost pristine 1953 gentlemans Helvetia wristwatch.
This 9ct gold watch consists of a cushion case with fixed lugs and a snap on bubble back housing a nice clean 82c Helvetia movement. The very elegant and subtle two tone face has an outer minute chapter surrounding an inner hour chapter marked in Arabic numerals and a subsidiary second hand dial. The face is signed Helvetia, Antimagnetic, Shockprotec, 17 Jewels, Swiss Made and the face along with the hands are in a pretty much as new condition. The face sits beneath a good clean perspex crystal.
The case of the watch, like the face is also in an excellent condition, opening the case reveals that the inside of the back carries full Birmingham hallmarks for 1953, is signed METEOR, British Made and ALD for the renowned case maker Aaron Lufkin Dennison. The case in turn houses the movement. The movement is signed Helvetia, Swiss Made, 17 Jewels and is marked with the calibre number 82c. The movement is in an excellent condition.
This watch is quite a small gentlemans watch being just over 1 & 1/8th inches (2.9cm) in width including the crown and 1 & 1/4 inches (3.2cm) from fixed lug to fixed lug. Over all the watch keeps good time and is in an excellent to near new condition. It is presented an what looks like the original soft dark tan stitched leather strap. The strap is in a good wearable vintage condition.
This watch, like all of our watches is sold with a full 12 month warranty.
