The watch has a 7-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Rbt Ingersoll & Bro.
The Ingersoll Watch Company of New York was founded by Robert H Ingersoll and his brother. The Ingersoll brothers were pioneers of industry and invention in the world of watchmaking. Their aim was to produce an affordable watch for the average man, whilst maintaining real quality and credibility.
With the aid of a newly developed production line for both pocket and wrist watches, the Ingersoll brothers succeeded in their mission and the “Dollar Watch” was born at a price of $1.00 (a day's wages at that time).
In 1917, the company introduced this particular model of watch, the "Reliance," a higher-grade jewelled watch with enamel dial. This was one of the few watches that Ingersoll said could be serviced rather than a 'disposable' product.
This particular watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and it is in good condition.
The glass lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial looks good to the naked eye. There are three short faint hairlines by number 4 if you look very closely. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
