1902 J G Graves silver pocket watch & chain
An antique "Express" English Lever sterling silver pocket watch & Chain from J G Graves of Sheffield.
The watch has a key-winding movement which is working well. A winding key will be included. The watch was made by the Lancashire Watch Company and retailled by J G Graves. The movement is protected by a fitted inner dust cover.
The watch measures 52.5mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is sterling silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Chester 1902, with a maker's mark TPH for The Lancashire Watch Co Ltd (Thomas Peter Hewitt). The case has some wear to the engine turned detail and a couple of mild bruieses to the back and edge but overall it is in nice condition for an 1900s piece.
The watch lens is plastic and is in nice condition.
The enamel dial is signed The "Express" English Lever, J G Graves, Sheffield. The dial is in nice condition.
The watch has gold hands with a blued steel sub seconds hand. (The hour hand is a later replacement although antique).
The watch comes on a double silver albert chain with fob.
Each link of the chain has the lion passant mark and the T bar and clasps are hallmarked for Birmingham 1919 with the makers mark for Henry Allday & son. Each of the chains measure 21cm long including the T bar and clasp. The chain is in nice condition.
The fob has Chester hallmarks for 1924 with the makers mark for Thomas James Skelton.
The front of the fob originally had a gold wash to the centre although some has worn off from use. but overall the fob is in nice condition.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
