18thC Staffordshire Bilston Enamel Snuff Box
Pretty late 18th century South Staffordshire enamel rectangular snuff box with a white enamel ground and decorated to the hinged lid with a vignette of a fisherman standing on the bank of the river against a landscape of cottage and trees, the image framed with a blue scrolled border. The sides and base of the box have been decorated by sectioning into lozenge reserves by criss-crossing blue dotted lines, each section being filled by a lovely selection of garden flowers and sprigs in pinks, yellows, blues and purples.
It measures 5cm (2") wide, 4cm (1 1/2") deep and 2.8cm ( 1 1/8") high. Condition is fair with a few small areas of damage to the top left corner of the lid, to the centre of the 2 short sides (a small loss both inside and out) and some scuffing to the the enamel on some of the edges of the base. The enamels are nice and bright and overall it is still a lovely little box. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
