Unusual little Chinese elm altar or side cabinet c.1960. Just 12″ deep, ideal piece for a narrow hallway perhaps. The top with upswept cleats, over four small drawers and two cupboards, plus two further secret drawers hidden behind sliding panels in the waist. Beautifully figured elm fronts with superior decorative brass mounts and hinges and shaped bracket feet. Note the Chinese script printed on the inside of the cupboards, also the brass door locks in the form of fish. Very good condition.
