Fabulous Art Deco example of the wonderful butterfly brooches attributed to Thomas Mott of England - this is a gorgeous piece - substantial and beautifully set to a solid silver period silverback & framed brooch, marked as silver with "Patent Applied For" - measuring c. 1" inch dia, it depicts a Kingfisher bird reverse painted to the clear glass cover. To the rear is a long pin and period c catch - a tiny couple of pings to the rear, which is expected and commensurate with age - it will delight the most discerning of collectors. (better than the pics which are showing reflections)

Thomas Mott (TLM) exhibited his beautiful reversepainted butterfly wing antique jewellery at the British Empire Exhibition of 1924. His company was the largest producer of butterfly wing jewelry in the 1920"s/1930"s. Becoming a favourite accessory of the Art Deco period, these pieces are now becoming highly sought after and collected.
