tremely rare Roman/Saxon repurposed piece of antique jewellery and found on a Anglo Saxon site.
This heavily silvered Roman bronze snake bracelet dates from the 1st to the 3rd century AD. It was obviously broken in Antiquity,reheated and bent into a ring and worn no doubt by a Saxon.
Snake jewellery symbolised fertility and to ward off evil.
This piece has been in a private collection for over 20 years so fresh to the market place.
It's find spot will be given to the buyer.
