First Half of 19th Century

This is a super original pine housekeeper’s cupboard dating to around 1830 and perfect for furnishing a country house or cottage interior. It has a traditional cupboard top with rope twist carving to the cornice and two panelled cupboard doors below. The interior is fitted with two shelves and the remains of paper lining can be seen.

The chest base has three short over three long graduated drawers with original turned wooden handles and standing on bracket feet. The cupboard and all the drawers are fitted with locks (although we do not have a key). The top cupboard section lifts off the chest base so access and moving within most properties should not be a problem.

We are offering this charming cupboard for sale without undertaking any restoration. The cornice has some knocks out the edge to the front and side, there are losses to the beading around the drawers. The moulding to the base of the left side of the upper cupboard section is missing, a back leg is gone (we have added a support) and there are traces of old woodworm – not bad for something nearly 200 years old.
