OXFORD DESK CHAIR - ARNE JACOBSEN - FRITZ HANSEN
The ‘Oxford’ desk chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1963 and this original version was produced Denmark in 1976 by Fritz Hansen. This is the low back classic model with aluminium arms and padded armrests We have reupholstered this chair in the finest thick Tan colour Hyde leather and have been careful not to over polish the aluminium frame. The up and down mechanism is working but if a little slow. There is some rusting around the top of the mechanism but hidden well under the seat. Makers label as in photo is under the seat The Chair was designed for the professors at St Catherines College in Oxford when it had an extension built and all designed by Arne Jacobsen during this groundbreaking period of Modern design.
