Original Huge Panel Stitched Union Jack Flag, from the 1920s-30s (possibly Naval WWI period) in original distressed condition.
Traditionally made, panel stitched flag in rough cotton/linen. Each segment is individually sewn and the hem is triple stitched, has a heavy canvas hoist hem, and its original halyard hessian rope (no toggle).
Measures approx.9ft x 4.5ft (275cm x 140cm). Proportion 2:1 indicates at sea use.
The flag still has good vibrant colours but being in well used condition is showing signs of age and wear. Due to exposure to weather, the colours have run in some areas (mainly red into white) and there is some spotting where the blue due is missing. There are some holes/tears in the fabric, some fraying to the edges and soiling commensurate with age and use. Please see photos.
Fabulous genuine old flag, which has seen lots of action.
