Late George III Scottish Mahogany Toilet Mirror George III Georgian Scottish %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Circa 1810, late George III Scottish mahogany toilet mirror. The mirror is in a rectangular frame with crossbanded mahogany, string inlay and a stylised pediment. The uprights are turned, block and finish with wonderful bee hive finials on both sides. The mirror is held in position on the side by brass rings which are finished in a circular brass knob handle. Below the uprights is a flat surface with string inlay on the fore edge, and below this a configuration of 3 drawers – 1 large drawer in the centre and 2 bow fronted drawer on each end with small knob handles. Beside each of the small drawers is a lovely recessed panel with a small beading and flamed mahogany panel in the centre. The mirror stands on 4 bulbous tapering feet that look like upside down bee hives very similar to the finials. Good condition, some old repairs.
