Antique Japanese Lacquered lidded circular box. Wonderful wooden box with lid. Black lacquer to the exterior and red lacquer inside the box with gold painted decoration to the edge of the lid and box, the box is now heavily worn and distressed, and the lacquer to the exterior has lost its sheen and there is some loss to the lacquer over all. The interior retains the original red lacquer finish, again this is distressed and some of the lacquer is missing. There are still elements of the gold decoration to the exterior of the box, this is now worn.
The piece has been left as it was originally found, in it's charming, aged condition.
Japanese marks to the underside of the box.
This piece dates from the 19th Century, circa 1890.

Very heavily distressed with some loss to the wood and to the original lacquer. The condition of the box is stable and the distressing is cosmetic.
