Hand coloured lithograph Royal Military Academy
A very rare lithograph,
Circa 1840-50
One copy known to be in the National Army Museum, another known copy sold recently in March 2023 at Roseberys London smashing its £200 - £300 estimate with a hammer price of £520 (£682.24p including fees (31.2%)).

Hand-coloured lithograph, after a drawing by William Ranwell (1797-1861), printed by Day & Son, and published by Ackermann & Co. Strand & Woolwich by E. Jones, Library, Thomas Street.
The Royal Military Academy (RMA) Woolwich was established in 1741 by Royal Warrant. It focused on the rapidly advancing technical skills that artillery officers required, teaching maths and science as well as gunnery and fortification. The Academy was later expanded to include officer training for the Royal Engineers and Royal Signals.
Originally established within the walls of the Woolwich Arsenal a purpose-built facility designed by James Wyatt (1746-1813), Architect of the Ordnance, was completed on the edge of Woolwich Common in 1805.
Condition:
Some marks and blemishes commensurate with age, please note that the lithograph has been set to a board.
Fading and marks present.
Frame is generally good with minor wear
Glass is good.
Framed and glazed (ebonised with gilt surround)
