Good Edwardian inlaid walnut pier hall mirror 1910
This is a very good pier mirror. The mirror is Edwardian, dating to around 1910. The mirror can sit on the floor or be raised if you put brackets on it and can be used as a hall mirror or even a bedroom mirror. The mirror is beautifully opulent. The frame is made in pitch pine with a cornice above and it's original decorative tiled frieze below. The mirrored glass is bevelled, as you would expect in a quality piece and the surround is inlaid with walnut and what is probably sycamore. It is very beautiful. The chamfered edges of the frame are inset with boxwood stringing and it has a shaped base.
This is a quality mirror. Antique mirrors can be dark and opressive but this is light and welcoming. The condition is good. There is an age crack to the cornice but this is not distracting. The tiles are perfect.
This is a very good furnishing piece. You will need brackets to hang it to your wall.
The mirror is 63.5 inches high and 29 inches wide.
