This is an antique style mahogany leather pedestal desk, circa 1950, styled in the period of the George III era. The desk features a good quality single panel red and gold leather tooled insert on the top. Below the desk sits on rectangular pedestals, which house the cock-beaded drawers. The drawer fronts gunmetal swan neck handles and are constructed using the dovetail design. The central drawer features a working lock and key the other drawers were not designed to have locks. The bottom right pedestals feature a very useful large filing drawer for storing large files. The external sides and backs of of the pedestals feature decorated beaded panels which means the desk can be freestanding in the centre of a room (or if you prefer, against a wall). The desk sits on a solid plinth for added stability. The pedestals, frame and drawer bottoms and sides are constructed of engineered timber with a mahogany veneer. The desk dismantles into three sections (top and two pedestals) for easy transportation. This is a sought after sized desk.
The desk can be dismantled into three sections for easy transport and access through the narrowest of doorways to its intended location.
This item features a rich dark brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition The desk and leather is in very good condition. The leather is clean and free from damage, rips or any stains. There are nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the wooden top and pedestals but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are some small marks inside the drawers but nothing significant. The desk has a working key, which operates the top central drawer only. The other drawers were not designed with locks. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
