Genuine Lloyd Loom Lusty Bedroom Chair in Green
An original Lloyd Loom bedroom chair with original sage green paint. The Lloyd Loom process was invented in 1917 in the US, with British rights owned from 1920 by William Lusty. The unique fabric was made with paper twisted around a wire, and became extremely popular in the 1930s. This example is in a lovely vintage green, and the brown string showing through the paint in places gives it an attractive, slightly shabby look. It would be ideal for a conservatory or sun room, or as a bedroom or bathroom chair, surrounded by plants.
This chair is one of a non-identical pair, bought together by the same couple in the 1940s (see separate listing for the 2nd chair). It's very comfortable and sturdy, and in overall very good condition. As the green paint is original, the threads are separate and not painted together. There is some wear to the paint, minor marks and scuffs to the painted legs, and minor wear to the strings. There are also cracks in the curved wood at the back of the chair, but this doesn't affect its stability (see last picture). Please examine the photographs and feel free to ask us any questions, or request more pictures.
Dimensions:
Width 68cm, Depth 63cm, Height 79cm. Seat height 41cm.
If you would like to purchase the chairs as a pair, we are happy to combine delivery and offer a 10% discount. Please message us to adjust the pricing, or alternatively the discount can be refunded after payment.
Please get in touch for further details on any item, including additional photographs or video. You are welcome to view any item by appointment.
