English Giltwood Overmantel Circa 1830
One of the finest quality William IV overmantels I have had the pleasure to work on.
Excellent workmanship in every way.
Superb design and proportions with quite distinctive column designs.
Giltwood with some composition work.
Breakfronted cornice style.
The frame has been deigned so that it will give the appearance of leaning forward very slightly. This has been achieved by the thickness of the frame being 1.25" at the base of the column in comparison to the top of the column where it is 1.75".
This is a frame designed to catch and reflect the smallest of lights in a dark room.
Reeded ebonised inner slip frame surrounds an original mercury plate with some marks to the silvering.
38.5" high x 54" wide at the base and 59.5" wide at the top If this item is not entirely suitable, please do not hesitate to contact us as we have a large store of un-restored items which can be started on if necessary.
All our mirror frames are fully restored using gold leaf and traditional materials.
We have over 30 years experience of gilding and restoration and we are very happy to undertake restoration work of any item, antique picture frame or antique mirror frame of yours that may need repair, re-gilding or indeed, simply cleaning.
If you need advice on the hanging and fixing of mirrors please contact us, we will be happy to help.
If you would like to view any item, please contact us and we can make an appointment.
