Clun Castle watercolour by CJ Thornton c1950
A CJ Thornton 1911 - 2001 original watercolour.
He was born in Narborough, Leicestershire and studied at Wigston Grammar School. Later to become "one of Englands foremost landscape artists". The pinnacle of his career was in 1970 when he was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal at the Paris Salon.
This is a lovely original landscape watercolour of the medieval ruins of Clun Castle in Shropshire.
The picture measures 18cms by 26cms and the frame measures 33cms by 41cms.
It is in very good condition.
