Original Art Deco Furniture Designs - Dining Room
This is an original Art Deco design for the dining room executed in ink and watercolour by William George Hilling who designed for a number of well-known English furniture manufacturers during the 1930s including Beautility and Nathan, both based in London, and Eclipse Cabinet Works in Alcester.
This design is for a dining room suite with a 'Limed Oak Suite indestructible, Lime effect: French Polished, Timber Foreign, Fittings, Covering etc British'. The design encompasses a sideboard, dining table and chair. Please note that we have a similar lay-out for another dining suite design which is listed separately.
We have acquired a large archive of Hilling's designs as well as a number of contractual letters with the furniture makers, photographs of two of these letters are shown above. Copies of some of these letters will be provided with this original design.
Dimensions: Paper 36 x 56cm
Condition: The ink & watercolour drawings are on two pieces of paper laid on a sheet of brown paper, and are in good vintage condition. There are two folds, one of which is through the image, though this should be almost invisible once framed. There is some faint spotting.
