Rare First Edition of Charles Dickens, 'The Chimes'.
Published by Chapman and Hall, London 1845, in original cloth covered boards with gilt text. The very uncommon first state edition with Chapman and Hall as part of the engraving on the vignette frontis page.
175 pages of text with 13 engravings including the frontis page and engraved title page. Engraving by Malclise, Doyle, Stanfield and Leech.
Printed by Bradbury and Evans, Whitefriars, London.
Cloth boards worn and damage to spine with tape at top and bottom. Has the yellow end pages, but dirty. Overall condition of book good.
