Black Forest Linden Work Terrier Tobacco Box c1880
A highly sought-after and large piece of hand carved Black Forest work dating to the Victorian era, around 1880. A similar example can be seen in the book "Swiss Carvings, The Art of the Black Forest" by Arenski and Daniels.
The box is carved in the form of the most adorable Terrier's head with a suave bow tie and turned up collar, also sporting a hat. and smoking a cigar. He retains his two very large glass eyes.
A magnificent and charming specimen in excellent condition. Approximately 8" x 8" max, standing 7" tall.
