Art Deco. Diamond, white and yellow gold brooch
A beautiful, intricate example of the jeweller's art.
An early twentieth century diamond, white and yellow gold brooch. The square cut diamond (ca 3mm) is rubover-set to the centre. The outer border of the white gold setting is a delicate bright-cut band giving the illusion of further milgrain set diamonds. Delicate tracery suspends the stone and extends down the sides to give depth. The back is yellow gold with pin and safety clasp marked 14K. From the design - which combines a classic Art Deco shape with the delicate tracery evocative of the Edwardian era, probably transitional - ca1920-30. From the mark, probably US. 46 x 11mm, 2.8g)
I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking.
