Description

An large 18th century bronze statue of saint peter seated on an alabaster and specimen marble throne , made in Rome late 18th - early 19th century. The bronze figure has a beautiful dark patina with rubbed areas bringing lighter patinas through from the bronze. The throne requires some restoration, there are a few losses and the seat and both side panels have slight breaks, which have been glued at some stage, the throne is in generally good order for its age and could be left as it is.

A similar example can be found at Sothebys - 30/01/2021 , Master sculpture and works of art part II, lot 809, by Giacomo Zoffoli (1745-1805) which sold for $18,900.
