A Rare Lead Bust Of Sir John Milton.

Description
A rare lead bust of the famous 17th century poet Sir John Milton 1608 - 1674.The bust has a wonderful surface patina to the lead and is mounted on an associated marble socle. The lead statue would have original had a lead soccle which I believe would have been all one piece, but this has been damaged and lost a long time ago. The back has also been filled in with some kind of mortar at some stage to strengthen and conserve the sculptures form. There is a few minor loses and damages and repairs commensurate with age, but overall the sculpture is in excellent condition.
