Description:
This is a fine quality antique Welsh pot board dresser base and rack, from the George III period, constructed in oak, originating from mid-Wales, displaying a lovely colour and patination, circa 1800. In excellent original condition, making it extremely desirable. The oak rack is designed with a straight cavetto cornice and three shelves at various heights, allows different sized plates and crockery to be displayed. The top of the rack retains its original iron cup-hooks along the cornice and top shelf, which is nice to see that they have not been lost or removed, over the life of this Welsh dresser. The oak rack rests upon two large tenons, which slots into the potboard base, along with metal brackets on the back of the rack, which screw to pot-board base, to ensure the rack is secure. The rack retains its original wide pine back-boards (the wider the boards, generally the better the quality).

The antique Georgian oak pot-board base, features a three-plank solid oak top (displaying wonderful colour and original patination), with three large frieze moulded drawers, over an open aperture, with four turned pillar supports that unite the pot-board base. The drawer fronts retain their original Georgian period brass swan-neck handles and escutcheons (it was common for handles / knobs to be replaced through the life of a dresser). However, these bass handles appear to be original. The central drawer retains its original working steel lock and key. The drawer fronts are also decorated with cock-beaded boarders, and the drawers retain their original pine linings and drawer bottoms, which is nice to see they have not been replaced. The drawers are constructed with hand-dovetailed joints they are smooth running and close flush to the frame. The pot board base retains its original oak planks and mouldings, which run front to back and display a lovely colour.

This antique Welsh oak sideboard base has been constructed in the traditional manner, incorporating mortice and tenon joints, secured by oak pegs. This Welsh Georgian dresser stands on its original length bracket feet.

This antique Welsh pot board dresser boasts its original polish and patination, displaying a rich oxblood colour, which has been created from over 200 years of care. This antique Welsh dresser is an excellent investment and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the kitchen, hall way or the living room. This antique Georgian oak dresser base would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
