With a dated presentation label to the top which reads "Presented to Mr John Lightbody, cashier by the officials and employees of DALOUHANDY AND AUCHENBEGG COLLIERIES as a mark of esteem on his being transferred to the Glasgow office 29th Feb 1903". This desk is of a superior quality with fielded(bevelled) panels to the sides and rear, a very well fitted interior with numerous compartments and drawers. The locking mechanism for the base drawers has been disabled at some time in the past, probably for ease of use when the roll is closed down. The tambour has ogee shaped lats which once again is a detail found on superior desks. Polished all round so it can be used off the wall and in fantastic condition, complete with working lock and key to the roll top. The colour is of a warm mid brown oak with well figured panels throughout. A much above average desk with an interesting provenance and in excellent condition. If sold to the UK mainland, delivery will be free of charge. There will be two experienced couriers on the van and it will take approximately thirty minutes for them to set the desk up in the place that you require it.
