A superb Georgian oak writing desk/bureau from the first half of the 18th century. At almost three hundred years old this piece is in the great condition still retaining it's original patina. A typically restrained Georgian provincial design, simple but does the job. The fitted interior has four drawers with separate compartments above and numerous ink stains from the rear of the work surface(please remember that this piece is from the ink well and quill days). In 50 years of trading we have come across a great many secret drawers and compartments, some obvious, some not. This desk is hiding two secret compartments that are a new experience to us and not mentioned most people would never discover them. These will be pointed out to the next owner as not tot spoil the fun.
