Village Ducking Stool

Description

This is a Mid 19th Century copy of a medieval village pond ducking stool. It would be on similar lines as the village stocks, both used as a punishment in days long gone by. Made from oak we have had our restoration workshop double treat the long deceased woodworm as a precaution and re-dowel most of the worn joints. It now works as it should and would be a great talking point in the right setting. Hard to believe that to half drown someone was an OK form of punishment only a few centuries ago, not something I can see making a revival anytime soon. At 17 foot/ 5.2 meters this is at full scale. Breaks into two parts for slightly easier transportation.
