Description
A large Neo classical cast iron register grate. The integral hob with serpentine bars is decorated with satyr masks enclosed within ribbon tied laurel wreaths with a central standing lion beneath the bar set. The interior is lined with ribbed back and side panels, all centred with an additional laurel wreath. The outer frame is enriched with panels containing scrolling foliate and ribbon decoration with oval paterae to the corners, containing squirrels.English, circa 1900.
